Remote Tables
Overview
A remote table is a data table located on a remote server that can be accessed and queried just like a local table. The data in the remote table is typically stored in a different format or location than the data warehouse and may be sourced from external systems such as external databases or web services. Remote tables can be used to integrate data from multiple sources into a single data warehouse for easier analysis and reporting.
Remote tables are used to define a schema for the data you want to retrieve from an external source and maintain the data in the defined schema of the table. External sources include Excel files maintained by users and any other third-party source systems.
Remote tables can source data from multiple Excel files or directly from external systems.
Files Connection
To capture the imported data from semi-structured Excel files, remote tables are introduced. Multiple Excel files used for offline data collection can be imported directly without making any changes to users' Excel format or content with JustPerform's smart user interface for remote tables. After import, this structured data can be used for further data analysis, exploration, and even further data calculations, processing, or data visualizations.
System Connection
The data in the remote table can typically be sourced from an external system such as an external database, web service, or other external data source. Remote tables are used to integrate data from multiple sources into a single data warehouse for easier analysis and reporting. To access the external system, a connector or an API is required. This connector or API will allow the data warehouse to extract the data from the external system and make it available for querying within JustPerform. This way, JustPerform can be a single interface to access data stored in multiple locations, making it easier to manage and analyze that data.
