Functional Area
A functional area refers to a specific business function or domain within an organization that is essential for achieving its overall goals and objectives. Each functional area has its own specific objectives, processes, and key performance indicators (KPIs) that are crucial for measuring performance and driving improvements. Functional areas can be defined and managed to facilitate financial modelling, planning, and analysis.
Purpose and Benefits
A functional area streamlines and standardizes the management of authorization and workflow across various models by grouping them under a single object and ensuring the inclusion of control dimensions for access control.
Existing standard models and virtual models are grouped under this object. The inclusion of control dimensions within the functional area is mandatory. If a control dimension is not present in the functional area, the user will not be able to access the associated model, indicated by an error icon on the top of the model screen within the functional area.
A functional area is an object to control authorization and workflow, removing the dependency of authorization and workflow on a specific model and unlocking the full potential of reporting and defining processes across models.
The functional area is now part of models under the Modelling tab on the web interface. All existing standard models and virtual models will be grouped as objects below the functional area.
Upon deploying a new function, a default functional area will be created for each model automatically. The same model and virtual models will be assigned to the default functional area. You can perform the assignment by using the Assign View in each functional area.
Objective
The Models screen has a simple and user-friendly interface that allows users to create and view various functional areas and their models. On the JustPerform platform, users can create a functional area and additionally modify and delete existing functional areas by clicking on them to display the functional area catalog in the right-side panel.
