v26.02: Auto Mapping Rules
Users can create a Standard Auto Mapping Rule or select an existing Advanced Auto Mapping Rule (metric‑based) from a single entry point, enabling them to quickly choose the appropriate mapping approach without confusion.
The Auto Mapping Rule feature provides a simple, configurable way to define mapping logic directly within the Auto Mapping Rule section of a sheet. It offers a clear, streamlined interface for setting rule inputs, outputs, and applicable metrics, while also keeping advanced metric‑based rules accessible from the same location.
Standard Rules
A rule type for direct dimension-to-dimension mapping that posts the same value to the same metric. Users configure Name, Input (Dataset, Account, Flow), Output (with "Same as Source" options), and Applicable Metrics. Standard Rules support drag-and-drop sequencing and execute after Advanced Rules.
Advanced Rules
Existing metric-based mapping logic, where output is posted to a different metric based on rule configurations.
Creating a Standard Auto Mapping Rule
Navigate to the Actions tab of your sheet.
-
Under Auto Mapping Rule, click + Add Metrics.
-
A dropdown menu appears with the following options:
Standard Rule
Advanced Rule category
-
A list of your existing metric-based rules (e.g., Total Cost, Entity Input)
When you click on any metric under Advanced Rule, the metric opens next to Sheets and is added as a line item under Auto Mapping > Mapping Rules > Advanced Rules.
- Select Standard Rule from the dropdown menu.
- The Rule Details pane opens with the following fields:
- Name: Must be unique.
Input: Select Dataset members or add Account/Flow members manually.
-
Output: Choose Dataset from the two:
Same as Source - Retains input dataset value.
-
Single leaf member - Consolidates all outputs to one dataset.
System aggregates input data by Dataset dimension ONLY when Output = fixed leaf member..
You can also define Output Account, and Flow members.
"Same as Source" is available for both Account and Flow. You may select "Same as Source" for either Account or Flow, but not both.
Applicable Metrics: Select metrics the rule applies to.
Reverse Sign in Output: Multiplies all output values (Debit and Credit) by -1 after all other calculations.
- Select Save to save the rule.
It appears under Auto Mapping > Mapping Rules > Standard Rules. Selecting a rule here reopens its side pane for review or editing.
Viewing All Auto Mapping Rules
Standard and Advanced Rules are shown under the Mapping Rules dropdown in the Auto Mapping section. Standard Rules expand by default; Advanced Rules collapse by default. Only one group can be expanded at a time.
Note: If no Standard Rules exist, the Standard Rules section is not shown.
Information Icon for Standard Rules
An information icon appears when Standard Rules exist. Hovering displays additional guidance.
Sequencing Standard Rules
Standard Rules can be reordered via drag-and-drop. The system saves changes automatically and updates numbering instantly.
