Master Data (Dimension Members)
Master data represents the core business information that supports an organization’s essential processes and underpins all transactional activity. Because it is shared across departments, maintaining accurate and consistent master data is critical. Examples include key details about customers, suppliers, partners, products, employees, and accounts. For instance, product master data may include attributes such as product name, description, and unit price.
Master Data Management and Maintenance
Depending on the type of selected object (such as a model, a field, or a module), users can view all associated components or the relevant master data with members and their properties.
Additional attributes are required for dimensions to achieve business outcomes. These attributes can provide additional information about members (master data) maintained in dimensions.
Master Data Operations
- Search dimension member: Users can search for dimension member details within the active dimension.
- Add Property: Users can add a new property using the Plus icon located in the level 2 header.
- Edit Hierarchy sequence: Hierarchy sorting can be adjusted in the hierarchy view, accessible from the level 2 header via the Hierarchy icon. Users can also add child members by dragging and dropping them under a parent member.
- Export: Users can export existing master data to an Excel file.
- Import: Users can import an Excel file into a dimension to update the master data.
Master Data Edit Functions
When right-clicking a row in the dimension member table, the following options are available:
- Cut: Allows users to cut selected member(s) to paste them elsewhere, similar to Excel functionality.
- Copy: Copies the selected row, functioning like Excel's copy feature.
- Paste: Pastes copied or cut values. If the pasted data includes a duplicate ID, the system will display a warning since duplicate IDs are not permitted.
