Creating Input Snippets and Forms

Input Sheet snippets function similarly to reports but with an exceptional capability - users can enter data directly into them. Input Snippets allow users to input data into a model, similar to the Input table in the JustPerform Excel add-in. They allow users to capture data with different levels of details and structure, with layouts and field members that can be dynamically adjusted to match specific needs. Data saved in input sheet snippets is immediately updated in the JustPerform system, ensuring real-time data accuracy. Input snippets can be created as Private or Public, with data entry supported through various sources.

Creating an Input Sheet Snippet

To create an Input Sheet snippet:

  1. Navigate to the sheet or model for which you want to create snippets.
  2. On the level 2 header, click the Snippets icon to initiate snippet creation.
  3. Click Create Snippet and select Input Sheet.
  4. Drag and drop the dimensions that you want to include in the snippet layout.
  5. Specify whether you want to allow multiselect and enable user selection for each dimension, by clicking on the filter beside the dimension.
  6. Once you have created the input sheet, publish and then save it.

The data will be saved to the leaf members of the dimensions that you selected.

Note: Input Snippets can be created as Private or Public snippets. Public snippets can be accessed by anyone with functional area permission, while private snippets are exclusively accessible by the user who created them.

Design Pane Components

Design Pane is the space where snippet is shaped. The design pane may vary slightly depending on the type of snippet created. When user clicks Snippet and Create Snippet, they will be prompted to choose a snippet type, on selection the Design Pane will open.

The components that make up the Design Pane are:

Level 2 Header - Operations such as saving and refreshing data, publishing the snippet, and exporting data can be found in this header. It serves as command center for managing snippet-related actions efficiently.

Snippet Header - The snippet header defines snippet's unique identity. Here, user can specify its name, title, privacy status (public or private), and even explore snippet type conversion.

Layout - The layout section is where data presentation is defined. Fields can be structured into rows, columns, and filters as needed. This is the canvas where fields are arranged.

Options - Additional features to enhance the snippet's display are found in the Options section. These options are tools for fine-tuning how the snippet appears and behaves, ensuring alignment with specific requirements.

Fields - This component provides a comprehensive view of the fields contained within the model, along with their properties. Here, the specific data elements to include in the snippet can be selected and arranged to convey the required information.

Input Snippet Features

Enable Input to Parent Members - If this option is enabled, users will be able to enter and save data at the parent members. If there is no data at the leaf members, the entered data will be allocated equally across all members. If the leaf members already have data, the system will allocate the saved data based on their existing ratios.

Insert Columns and Rows - Once this option is enabled, users will have two choices. First, they can specify how many rows and columns should be inserted by default. They can set this in the dialog box. Second, users can right‑click any cell in the snippet and select Insert Row. A dialog box will appear where they can enter the number of rows they want to insert.

Allow Multiselect and Enable User Selection - User can Allow multiselect and Enable User Selection similar to JustPerform Add-in. Dimension with Enable User Selection can then be displayed under selection list.

Show Additional Properties - Just as in excel add-in, user can update Preference to show additional properties.

Set Reference Range - Set Range enables defining static templates by fixing row and column positions. When enabled, users specify dimension member positions and properties via Preferences. It suits static financial reports. Unchecked Set Range reverts axes to dynamic with filters and dropdowns. This ensures precise layout control for data display and retrieval.

Multi-Section Support

The multi section creation functionality is extended to input snippets. Multiple sections within an input snippet can be created, each section with varied level of detail. Sophisticated reports can be created using these sections.

Snippet Type Conversion

Input Snippets can be converted to Report Snippets and vice versa. The Field List and Report Structure panels are displayed as two separate panels, and you can drag and drop fields between the two panels.

Styles

Styles can be applied to Input Snippets, providing users with the capability to format snippets according to their preferences using the Style Toolbar.

Users will find a Style Toolbar icon appearing on the 2nd level header of the Snippet screen. Users gain access to a range of formatting options, including:

  • Font and font size
  • Number formatting
  • Text color and background color
  • Cell border
  • Alignment settings
  • Text wrapping and indenting

Additionally, users can choose to hide or display various elements such as grids, column headers, row headers, and the formula bar to tailor their view to the report content.

Accessing and Managing Input Snippets

Accessing Snippets

When you click on Snippets, you will notice two panes: Public and Private. Existing snippets will appear in these panes based on their privacy settings.

Snippet Operations

Next to the existing snippets, you will find icons that allow you to perform various operations:

  • Opening in a new tab: View the content of the snippet in a separate browser tab
  • Adding to favorites: Mark a snippet as a favorite, making it readily accessible from the JustPerform landing page for quick and frequent reference
  • Copy: Duplicates the snippet, creating an identical copy that can be modified or used independently from the original
  • Delete: Removes the snippet permanently, deleting it from the list of snippets

Sharing and Collaboration

Snippets facilitate the easy sharing of reports, enabling collaborative decision-making and knowledge dissemination. Snippets can be shared with filters, using the web url. Authorized users can view the reports with their respective filters, enabling targeted analysis based on specific data details and history.

Users can save Snippets locally, ensuring offline access and sharing.
