v26.01: Workflow Management

Workflows are a functional area type designed specifically for building automated data processing pipelines. As a functional area, Workflow provides a dedicated environment for designing, testing, and executing multi-step data operations through a visual canvas interface.

Workflows enable users to automate complex data operations without extensive coding:

  • Design data processes visually with drag-and-drop nodes.
  • Connect nodes to define data flow from source to destination.
  • Transform data through calculations, aggregations, and business logic.
  • Execute complete data pipelines with a single click.
  • Monitor real-time execution with visual feedback.

Key Benefits

  • Visual design approach: Each step appears as a visual node on the canvas, making data flow logic immediately apparent.
  • Accessible to all users: Both technical and business users can design and understand workflows through the visual interface.
  • Organizational structure: Workflows are organized within functional areas alongside sheets, reports, and dimensions in the Explorer pane.
  • Independent operation: Each workflow maintains its own configuration, execution history, and connection patterns.
  • Shared context: Workflows share common dimensional context with other workspace elements.
