Working With Functional Areas
Create New Resources Within a Functional Area
Users with the appropriate permissions can create new items within functional areas. The plus icon next to a functional area in the Explorer provides the following options to create new items:
Folder
Boards
Sheets
Rates
Rules
-
Transactions
Journal
List
Table
Mapping
Workbooks
-
Model
Standard Models
Virtual Models
Advanced Models
Journals
Model Rules
Workflow
Alternatively, after you open a functional area, you can add new objects by hovering over the functional area name in the Catalog tab to reveal the floating toolbar, then clicking the plus icon.
Edit Functional Area
Users can modify details and control dimensions within the functional area using the Functional Area pane. This feature provides users with a high level of control and flexibility in managing functional areas according to their specific needs.
To access the Functional Area pane, take either way:
In the Explorer, locate the functional area you want to edit, then click the ellipsis icon and select Edit.
After you open the functional area, click the Functional Area Detail icon on the level 2 header.
This pane also provides the option to delete the functional area if needed.

Functional Area Operations in Explorer
On clicking the ellipsis icon beside a functional area in the Explorer, you can perform the following actions:
New Tab
Selecting New Tab will open the functional area in a new tab in the browser.
Copy
Users have the flexibility to create copies of existing functional areas with different names and descriptions. When you copy a functional area, the control dimensions and linked access settings are retained from the original functional area but can be modified as needed.
After you select Copy, the Functional Area pane will open, allowing you to enter a new name and description for the copied functional area. After providing the desired information, save the copied functional area.
Edit
Users can make changes to existing functional areas. Selecting Edit will open the Functional Area pane on the right side of the screen, allowing you to make the desired modifications. Once you have made the necessary changes, click SAVE to update the functional area.
Delete
Selecting Delete will remove the functional area. A confirmation prompt will appear, giving you the choice to proceed with the deletion by selecting Delete or to cancel the operation by selecting Cancel.
Alternatively, when you edit the Functional Area pane, you can click DELETE to remove the functional area.
Version x.x if available
Selecting this option will display the latest version history of the functional area.
