Snippets - Input and Report

In Web you can either input data directly in a sheet (using input snippet) or you can create report snippets on top of the sheet for different views.

Generally, you create input type snippet for inputting data, and report type snippet for just viewing (no data change is allowed).

Input Snippets

  • Purpose - Input snippets allow users to capture all the data required with different levels of details and structure. These snippets enable data entry directly into the system through the web interface.

  • Data Capture - Input snippets are designed for data input, allowing users to enter values, make selections, and capture information needed for planning, budgeting, forecasting, and consolidation activities.

  • Structured Layout - Users can configure the layout of input snippets to match specific data entry requirements, organizing fields and metrics in rows and columns as needed.

  • Real-Time Updates - Data saved in input snippets is immediately updated in the JustPerform system, ensuring real-time data accuracy. This bidirectional functionality allows for the conversion of reports into sheets and vice versa.

Report Snippets

  • Purpose - Report snippets are designed primarily for data viewing. They provide a structured layout that allows users to easily peruse data.

  • Detailed Analysis - Report snippets can be used for detailed analysis of model data by fields, their attributes and preferences. The layout of report snippets can be adjusted at any time, enabling the creation of data subsets for in-depth analysis.

  • Read-Only Presentation - They are particularly valuable for scenarios where data is meant to be read-only, offering a clear and organized representation of information.

  • Dynamic Adjustment - The layout and field members can be dynamically adjusted to match specific needs, providing flexibility in how data is presented and analyzed.

Sharing and Collaboration

  • Public and Private Snippets - Input snippets and report snippets can be created as private or public snippets depending on their configuration. Public snippets can be accessed by anyone with functional area permission, while private snippets are exclusively accessible by the user who created them.

  • URL Sharing - Snippets can be shared with filters using the web URL. Authorized users can view the reports with their respective filters, enabling targeted analysis based on specific data details and history.

  • Collaboration - Users can easily access and collaborate on these reports, facilitating decision-making and knowledge dissemination across teams and departments.

Web Interface and Excel Integration

You can leverage this function to report data in Web interface along with Excel interface. This provides users with flexibility to work in their preferred environment while maintaining data consistency across both platforms.

  • Web Reporting - Complete web reporting is enabled through snippets, allowing users to create, view, and manage sheets and reports entirely within the web interface.

  • Excel Interface Compatibility - The same data and reporting capabilities available in the web interface are also accessible through the Excel interface, ensuring seamless integration between platforms.

Multi-Section Support

The multi section creation functionality extends to both input snippets and report snippets. Sophisticated reports can be created using these sections, allowing users to present data at different levels of detail within a single snippet.

Use Cases

  • Budgeting - Create input snippets for department managers to enter budget data with appropriate field structures and validation, then use report snippets to review and analyze submitted budgets.

  • Forecasting - Configure input snippets for forecast data entry at different organizational levels, then create report snippets that aggregate and analyze forecast data by division, product line, or time period.

  • Consolidation - Use report snippets to review entity-level data before running consolidation, allowing finance teams to verify data quality and completeness across multiple entities.

  • Collaboration - Share report snippets with filters to different stakeholders, enabling each group to view relevant data subsets based on the roles provided to them while working from the same underlying model.
