Navigating Snippets

Snippets display a view of underlying data in the form of reports or graphically represent data for a better view using visuals.

Access Snippets Pane

Snippets can be created based on sheets, standard models, and virtual models. Users can create and access snippets via the Snippets pane in a sheet or model.

  1. Select a sheet or model under a functional area in the Explorer to open the sheet or model.

  2. Click the Snippets icon on the level 2 header. The Snippets pane displays.

Public and Private Snippets

Snippets can be public or private depending on the privacy selection, which can be changed at any time.

There are two tabs in the Snippets pane: Public and Private. Existing snippets will appear in these panes based on their privacy settings.

Public snippets are displayed in the Public tab and can be accessed by users who have Review, Update, or Manage authorization for the respective modelling objects. Review users can view public snippets but are unable to create or edit them.

Private snippets are shown in the Private tab and are accessible only to the owner (creator) of the snippet. All users with Review, Update, or Manage permissions can create private snippets. The URL of a private snippet can be shared with other users. When shared, recipients can copy the report and save it to their own private snippets.

v25.05: Search Bar in Snippets Pane

A search bar is available at the top of the Snippets pane, improving accessibility and efficiency when locating specific content.

  • Users can now search for snippets by both name and title, allowing for more precise and efficient content retrieval.

  • The search operates independently within the current tab, ensuring focused results for either public or private snippets.

  • When switching between Public and Private tabs, the search bar clears automatically to provide relevant results specific to the newly selected tab.

This streamlines the snippet discovery process, improving usability and making content navigation more intuitive.

Snippet Operations

In the Snippets pane, when hovering over an existing snippet, you will find icons that allow you to perform various operations on the snippet:

  1. Open New Tab: This operation allows you to view the content of the snippet in a separate browser tab.
  2. Add to favorites: You can mark a snippet as a favorite, making it readily accessible from the JustPerform landing page for quick and frequent reference.
  3. Duplicate: This action duplicates the snippet, creating an identical copy that can be modified or used independently from the original.
  4. Delete: This operation removes the snippet permanently, deleting it from the list of snippets.

Default Views of Sheets and Models

For each sheet and model, a default view is automatically generated. It contains the transactional data within the model. Only the standard model contains an additional view that maintains an audit history of transactions made to the data, per the user timestamp.
