Track Interco Detail
Track Interco Detail tracks trading partner data within the same sheet. This option is available when Consolidate Data in Sheet is enabled and allows users to maintain detailed information about which entities are transacting with each other within the group during the consolidation process.
Business Scenario
A finance team is preparing group consolidation and needs to track intercompany transactions between entities for elimination purposes. Before running intercompany elimination rules, the team must identify and reconcile transactions between specific trading partners within the ownership structure. The Partner unit subtype field is commonly used in Consolidation reporting to show the third-party details for the intercompany transactions.
Challenge - When consolidating data from entity level to group level following the configured ownership structure, the team needs visibility into which specific entities are trading partners for each transaction. This detail is essential for proper intercompany matching and elimination at the group/subgroup level.
Solution - Enable Track Interco Detail in the consolidation sheet. The sheet maintains trading partner information alongside the financial data, enabling users to see Entity and Interco relationships for each transaction within the same view used for consolidation.
How Track Interco Detail Works
When Track Interco Detail is enabled:
Trading Partner Capture - The sheet tracks which entity is the trading partner (Interco) for each transaction recorded against an Entity. This maintains the relationship between the entity performing the transaction and the entity it's transacting with.
Same Sheet Visibility - Trading partner data is maintained within the same consolidation sheet, eliminating the need to cross-reference multiple sheets or reports to identify intercompany relationships.
Elimination Support - The tracked Interco detail supports intercompany elimination rules by providing the Entity and Interco relationship data needed for matching seller and buyer transactions.
Example Scenario
Consider a consolidation sheet tracking intercompany sales between entities:
| Entity | Interco (Trading Partner) | Account | Amount |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entity A (Seller) | Entity B | Intercompany Sales | $50,000 |
| Entity B (Buyer) | Entity A | Intercompany Purchases | $50,000 |
With Track Interco Detail enabled, the sheet displays both the Entity performing the transaction and their Interco (trading partner), making it visible that Entity A sold to Entity B and Entity B purchased from Entity A. This detail supports the intercompany elimination process by clearly showing the relationship between matched transactions.
Configuring Track Interco Detail
- Verify Prerequisites - Ensure that your sheet contains the following required field types: Version, Time, Account, Flow, Organization Unit, Dataset, Group (Currency). These fields are necessary for the consolidation sheet to function properly.

- Select Track Interco Detail - In the Features section, locate the Track Interco Detail option. Select this option to enable trading partner tracking within the sheet.
- Save Configuration - Save the sheet configuration. Once enabled, the system will track trading partner relationships within the sheet as consolidation data is processed.
- Verify Trading Partner Fields - Ensure that your consolidation model includes the appropriate fields to capture Entity and Interco (trading partner) relationships. The Partner unit subtype field should be configured to maintain intercompany transaction details.
Once configured, the sheet will maintain Interco detail automatically as users input data or as consolidation calculations execute.
Use Cases in Consolidation Workflow
Pre-Elimination Analysis - Before running intercompany elimination rules, review the tracked Interco detail to verify that Entity and Interco relationships are correctly identified and that transactions are properly paired for elimination.
Reconciliation Support - Use the tracked trading partner data to reconcile differences between seller and buyer transactions. The Interco detail helps identify which entities need to be contacted to resolve discrepancies.
Elimination Method Selection - When configuring whether to use Seller, Buyer, or Offset elimination methods, reference the tracked Interco detail to understand the transaction flows between entities.
Audit Trail - Maintain detailed records of intercompany relationships for audit purposes. The tracked Interco detail provides transparency into which entities transacted with each other before elimination.
Note: Track Interco Detail works alongside other consolidation features. The tracked relationship data supports the execution of intercompany elimination and automatic journal rules.
Integration with Consolidation Process
Track Interco Detail integrates with the consolidation workflow. Once enabled, trading partner tracking occurs automatically as consolidation data is entered or calculated. You can execute consolidation rules from the Features tab in the sheet, or run them as a calculation step in Activities from the task pane, with Interco detail maintained throughout the process.
